Sessional Science Communicator or Teacher

In this unique role, enjoy flexible hours and work days, meet new people, and inspire a whole new generation of budding scientists!

Training and all the equipment required to conduct quality curriculum-aligned science workshops throughout Melbourne and Victoria is provided. Workshop topics include: chemical, physical, biological, STEM and earth and space sciences. We sure know how to bring science to life and get students excited and engaged!

This role is sessional, and is offered on a casual basis up to 3 or 4 days a week during peak periods. It is ideal for current CRT or part-time teachers looking for a bit more work and a flexible schedule. Or for those looking to combine study and home commitments with work. For the right candidate the role could turn into a permanent position as we are looking for a quality and organised educator to join our VIC leadership team.

The successful applicant must be friendly and enthusiastic, relate well to children of all ages, have well-developed verbal communication skills, be extremely organised and have a strong interest in science. They must be a self starter who is also comfortable with promotional activities.

Qualified teachers experienced in classroom management will be looked on favourably, but a teaching degree is not essential. Availability on some weekends and during the school term holidays is an advantage.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Prepared and able to travel throughout Melbourne and its regions;
• Access to a vehicle;
• Primary teacher experience or qualification (not essential);
• Strong interest in science and/or a science degree;
• Current Working With Children Check;
• Outstanding verbal communication skills;
• Ability to communicate science clearly and accurately, in an engaging and relevant way; and
• Have a friendly, flexible and personable demeanour.
