PRIMARY DETAIL

Expressions of interest sought for casual teaching staff in Psychological Science for a range of first, second and third-year undergraduate units that will be offered in Session 1, 2023.

THE ROLE

Remuneration: competitive hourly rates as per Macquarie Uni’s schedule for casual academic rates of pay

Appointment Type: casual appointments, Session 1, 2023

Macquarie University (North Ryde) location or online

Casual academic staff are wanted to run tutorial classes, as well as mark assessment tasks, in several undergraduate units within Bachelor of Psychology and Psychology (Honours) programs in Session 1, 2023. Classes for this Session run from 20th February–4th June 2023, and exams will be held any time between the 5th–23rd June 2023. Tutors take on a minimum of 2 tutorial classes per unit (typically 2–4 classes per week depending on enrolment numbers). We are seeking tutors for the units listed in the form link below. Please refer to the MQ handbook for more information on each unit ( ). Tutors are generally expected to be familiar with the content area that the units cover. For many units listed, tutorial classes run either on campus or online (via zoom).

Most of the units listed run via a range of offerings:

Face-to-face offering: tutorial classes are held in person on Macquarie University campus

Online offering: tutorial classes are held online over zoom

OUA offering: no set classes, tutors facilitate online discussions and monitor asychronous tutorial activities

The timetable for Session 1, 2023 is yet to be released and as such we cannot confirm when tutorials for the above listed units will be scheduled at this point in time; however, most units have tutorial classes 4–5 days a week. If you are generally unavailable on a certain day and/or time, we strongly suggest you clearly outline this in the online form as part of your application (further details on what to include are outlined below).

In addition to tutoring staff, we are also hiring for casual markers. Please follow the same process to apply for marking roles on these same units.

We are also concurrently seeking tutors for our cognitive and brain sciences undergraduate units. If you are interested in registering your interest for these units as well, please see the advertisement on the Careers at Macquarie website.
