About the Role:

Position available for immediate start.

The Shipyard Hand position provides professional and friendly Shipyard services to all contractors and customers of Rivergate, primarily focusing on the lifting / standing of vessels and general maintenance of vessels. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • To provide exceptional customer service to all shipyard patrons, contractors (on-site and off-site) and visitors. 
  • To provide a safe, friendly and efficient lifting services to all customers using the 75T and 300T Travelift. This includes the safe standing of the vessel and continued monitoring. 
  • To be well presented and appropriately groomed at all times to reflect Rivergate’s professional reputation.
  • To ensure that the entire Shipyard area is kept clean and tidy at all times. This includes all service units, hardstands, sheds, plant and equipment etc.
  • Carry out boat maintenance services, ie; pressure washing, antifouling, detailing etc.
  • Provide support to the Marina team when requested, this includes the selling of fuel, berthing vessels, cleaning pontoons etc.
  • To clean and tidy all walkways and common areas used by staff, contractors and Rivergate customers, including toilets, offices etc.
  • Carry out routine maintenance to services and facilities as per Rivergate’s maintenance schedule or as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
  • To understand and practice Rivergate’s workplace safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • To report any incidents and/or concerns directly and immediately to the Shipyard Manager.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be required to operate the facilities at Rivergate, as requested by the General Manager from time to time.

The Shipyard Hand must be available to work Monday to Sunday and be flexible with monthly rosters. Shipyard hours of operation are currently 7:30am to 4:15pm Monday to Friday.

Qualifications or Experience:

  • Fluent in English with another language an advantage.
  • Motor Vehicle license is essential.
  • Forklift license not essential but preferred.
