We are looking for a Boatyard General Hand to assist with the process of getting vessels in/out of the water and on the hard stand.

Shipyard Duties:
- Prepares vessels for lifting by ensuring the lifting position is correct, the straps have correct placement by referring to the factory marks, and ensuring the vessel is secure;
- Researches unfamiliar vessels to ensure the lift is safe;
- Conducting pre start inspections on shipyard plant and equipment;
- Conducting weekly inspections of vessel support systems, vessel access systems and shipyard to ensure the work environment is safe for operations;
- Operates the lifting machine, forklift and trailer;
- Acts as a spotter when not operating machines;
- Washes down vessels using a high-pressure washer;
- Sets up the equipment and system used to stabilise vessels in the correct position;
- Makes adjustments to vessel positioning as required;
- Liaises with customers throughout the lifting process;
- Provision of hire equipment (leads, mobile plant, IBC) to shipyard vessels including pre-hire inspection and completion of Hire Dockets.
- Responding to safety and environmental hazards and incidents in the Shipyard;
- Reporting hazards, incidents, near misses and damage into the GCCM reporting system;
- Ensures customers are provided with basic equipment such as a stair/ladder access, power, water and skin bins;
- Hardstands/sheds are cleaned following the removal of a vessel;
- Carries out general cleaning and maintenance in the shipyard;
- Conducts general maintenance on the lifting machine;
- Monitors the worksite and reports any unclean or unsafe practises to the Team Leader.
- Contribute to and actively incorporate business objectives into daily accountabilities
- Any other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications, Education & Training Requirements:
- Year 10 Certificate
- Drivers License
- Boat License
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 2+ years of experience working in an operational shipyard environment
- Sound knowledge of vessel requirements for lifting from water to dry stand
- Hands-on knowledge of shipyard daily activities
- Willingness to adhere to safe workplace practises
- Ability to swim to safety
- High levels of communication and customer service skills
- Sound judgement
- Willingness to work as a team
- Ability to work in a clean and organised manner

- Forklift Licence
