The CSA Mine is located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia’s deepest underground mines.
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs 500 people including contractors.
Position Overview:
As a Short Term Scheduling Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing short-term mine schedules that align with our operational goals. Your expertise will ensure optimal resource allocation, efficient production processes, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed short-term mine schedules, including daily, weekly, and bi-weekly plans.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment of schedules with production targets.
- Monitor and adjust schedules based on operational changes, equipment availability, and workforce constraints.
- Utilize mining software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac) to create and manage scheduling models.
- Collaborate with mine planners, engineers, and operations teams to optimise productivity.
- Prepare and present scheduling reports to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all scheduling activities.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and bottlenecks in the mining process.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mine scheduling, preferably in underground mining.
- Proficiency in mining software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
- Prior underground time and experience will be looked upon favourably
This is a 8/6 roster, and commute options include residential, DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane or Sydney.
Candidates interested in DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions.
