Job Description
Funded by the Victorian Government, and part of Victoria’s ‘Big Build’ the Shepparton Line Upgrade is one of the longest continuous railway line upgrade projects in Victoria. It will deliver more frequent services and allow modern VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time. The $356 million Shepparton Line Upgrade will be delivered in three stages.
Stage 2 works include a new stabling facility north of Shepparton Station and platform extensions at Mooroopna, Murchison East and Nagambie stations for the longer VLocity trains, as well as a crossing loop extension at Murchison East to give trains more room to pass each other in this section.
Train detection technology will be upgraded at 59 level crossings between Donnybrook and Shepparton to feature boom gates, bells and flashing lights to improve safety for train passengers and road users to allow VLocity trains to travel on the line for the first time.
The Signalling Design Coordinator is a key role on SCU for all program packages and is part of the Construction Engineering Team. Reporting to the Engineer Manager / Signalling Engineering Manager, the Signalling Design Coordinator is responsible for assigned signalling responsibilities.
The role is both hands-on and autonomous and partners closely with the Engineering Manager and Signalling Engineering Manager, along with project delivery staff, as you will be required to have contact with key stakeholders in the delivery of signalling and rail systems design elements.
Key accountabilities include, but not limited to:
Ensure design sub-consultants have appropriate V/Line SoC and LoA and approvals are in place to facilitate design activities
Support the Signalling Engineering Manager with tracking of design status against program delivery
Support the Signalling Engineering Manager, in the planning, execution and handover of designs/specifications etc. to the Construction team and specifically,
Overview the designs to ensure they are compliant with Standards, PS&TR, as set out within project requirements specification and project scope and technical requirements
Support the review of products and systems and make recommendations for their suitability
Manage multi-disciplinary design activities, ensure designs are in accordance with safety in design procedures, programming and cost control of the design works, manage the review and approval of design documentation, interface with engineers and the construction delivery team, whilst adhering to the projects safety policies and procedures.
Assist with design assurance activities on behalf of the Alliance relating to Signalling Engineering including
Required Skills and Competencies
Tertiary qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar
Minimum 4 years’ experience as a project-based engineer in industry related disciplines such as rail and associated Civil Infrastructure
Experience in operations and maintenance requirements of signalling equipment in a rail environment will see you succeed in the role
Sound understanding of Victorian Signalling Principles would be preferable
Current Driver Licence and your own reliable
