Yancoal Australia is Australia's largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. Our Ashton Coal Operations include an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell. The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Site Accountant to join our team at Ashton Coal. Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, the successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and motivated team, responsible for all aspects of the accounting function.
This role will be required to:

• Complete month end reporting
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Conduct departmental cost review meetings
• Manage the capital process
• Prepare site forecasts and budgets

Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, the successful applicant will possess:

• Degree qualification in Accounting or Commerce
• CPA/CA designation or currently studying towards
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
• Competent using SAP Accounting processes
• Prior experience and competence using Xeras
• Previous Mine Site experience (advantageous)
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan, coordinate and manage competing priorities within set deadlines
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Demonstrated experience applying problem solving techniques to accounting functions
