About the role:
We are now seeking to employ an experienced Site Medic at our Koolan Island Operation on a 8 Days On / 6 Day Off (12-hour day) roster from Perth or Broome.
Reporting directly to the Health, Safety & Training Superintendent, the primary focus of this role is responsible for providing medical aid to employees and contractors as required, assisting with the site Health Surveillance Program and assisting the Health, Safety and Training departments.
You will be working 12-hour days, whilst being on-call 24/7 onsite on a remote island in a tropical environment. You will need to be adaptable and able to work with various departments, with an ability to cope with changing work priorities and demands.
The successful candidate must be a current Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse or an AHPRA Registered Paramedic with experience working in either an emergency department or on-road with previous experience working in remote mining environments.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Provide medical aid and occupational health services to site employees and contractors
- Administer Drug Schedule, work with the onsite Injury Prevention and Management Advisors in regard to workers’ compensation claims and on-site RTW programs
- Maintain medical facilities and the site ambulance to a 24/7 operational capability
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team training and development
- Maintain any on site-drug compliance including stock takes and stock orders
- Co-ordinate and conduct the site drug-testing program
- Evaluate Pre-Employment Medicals in accordance with company guidelines to assess candidate suitability for employment
- Assess and provide confirmatory clearance for non-work-related injuries/illnesses for returning employees and contractors
- Liaise and coordinate with external medical providers including injury management providers
- Diploma Paramedical Science / Bachelor Paramedical Science (AHPRA Registered) or Bachelor of Nursing (AHPRA Registered)
- Experience working in remote environments, with prior experience in ED and / or on-road
- Drug and Alcohol Tester
- Current Intermediate Life Support certification (ILS)
- National Police Clearance
- Strong primary health skills essential
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid C-class Driving Licence (manual) or willing to obtain
- Intermediate computer skills, including competence with the Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable qualifications and experience:
- INX software experience
- Current Vaccination competency
- Audiometric Testing certification
- Injury Management Coordinator
- Emergency Response qualifications
