THE OPPORTUNITY
Karora Resources is currently seeking a Site medic / Emergency Services Officer for our Higginsville Gold Operation in Norseman. Higginsville has Open Pit Mining, Underground Mining a Processing Plant and a remote location creating a varied scope of work for any emergency professional as part of a new, transformational, proactive team.
- Be the first line of response to all emergency, medical and security incidents on site. Including provision of Emergency Services to surrounding local communities with the support of the Karora Emergency Response Team
- Focus on developing a high standard of personal technical emergency response capability and leadership
- Be available in an on-call / after-hours capacity, whilst on-shift
- Build ERT capability and membership through the delivery of high standard emergency response training to national standards
- Conduct workplace inspections, maintenance and audits, including all technical rescue assets
- Develop, maintain and report on Emergency Response Training capability
- Maintain operational readiness of emergency assets at all times
- Respond to security incidents, maintain gatehouse protocols and manage site entry
- Implement medical, rehabilitation and fitness for work systems on site with the support of the WHS team
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including external mutual aid partners.
ABOUT YOU
- Current “HR” Class Western Australian driver’s licence
- Cert III in Mines Emergency Response & Rescue or equivalent, including underground self-regenerative breathing apparatus, search and rescue and firefighting.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in an Emergency Services role
- Underground experience will be highly regarded
- Minimum of a Diploma of Paramedical Science or significant experience as a Certificate IV Health Care.
- Collect Specimens for drugs of abuse testing (or equivalent)
- Willingness to provide leadership for the ERT and set the standard
- Willingness to collaborate with a small, high performing WHS team
- Intermediate computer skills & literacy, particularly across the MS Office suite
- Solid problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and be adaptable under pressure
- Volunteer experience highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills
