About the role
We are currently taking applications for a Trades Assistant within our Rail and Construction Services division in Drury, Auckland. We are seeking a reliable and motivated candidate to assist in undertaking quality maintenance, repairs and improvement and is looking for a long-term career in a rapidly growing industry. This is an amazing opportunity to develop new skills and become part of an award-winning team.
Responsibilities of the role include;
- Work under the daily supervision of a qualified Fitter/Mechanic
- Assist with the inspection, fault diagnosis, test, maintenance, installation, modification or repair as appropriate of mechanical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner.
- Assist in maintaining equipment to the required standard to ensure our client’s statutory and contractual obligations are met and its availability and associated performance is maintained.
- Assist with delivery, offloading, inspection, storage, timely off-hiring and collection of plant.
- Assist with the tracking and accountability of hired equipment.
- Happy to conduct day to day tasks – Vehicle transport / certifications / workshop admin / etc…
- Work as part of a small team to carry out all aspects of the planned and reactive maintenance on road and rail bound equipment.
- Assist with mechanical installation work at a variety of locations.
- Assist with inspections and site testing of installations to check compliance with current Standards and Regulations
- Assist with maintenance and fault finding complying with current Standards and Regulations.
- Assist with preparation of operational reports and Service & Maintenance Reports which also include any faults or failings that could affect operational efficiency of the equipment.
- Be prepared to work overtime in the event of an emergency or if the operational environment requires.
- Working closely with clients, colleagues and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out with the least possible downtime and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Policy.
To be successful in this key role, you must have;
- Good knowledge of mechanical plant with a desire to learn
- General computer skills/IT literate with experience in computer data input and inquiry
- Physically fit and able to be trained in safety procedures.
- A clean driving license, preferably class 4.
- The ability to work away from home.
