Whilst we operate from the Sub-Antarctic to the tropics, we are headquartered in Perth, Western Australia and have been in operation for over 50 years.
Austral have an exciting, yet challenging, opportunity for SKIPPERS- TRAP FISHING to join our Northern Finfish team (Timor Reef Fishery) commencing IMMEDIATELY.
As a Skipper, you will be responsible for operating a 24M Trap Vessel in the Northern Territory’s Timor Reef Tropical Snapper Fishery.
Successful applicants will ideally have the following:
- Must have Masters 5 and MED 2 Certificates or higher (i.e. Master 4 and MED 1)
- Fishing experience related to Trap Fishing.
- Willing to relocate to Darwin (roster of 42 days on, 14 days off)
- The ability to lead a strong culture of safety on the vessel.
- Effective communication skills with a crew and land-based team.
- The ability to deliver high-quality fish to the market.
- High level of expertise with electronics including sonar.
- High level of Marine safety expertise
- A full understanding of the Regulations and Standards of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
- Current skills with Excel, Word and other reporting instruments.
- Current C Class driver’s license.
- Forklift ticket preferred but not essential.
