Sydney Harbour Attractions operates both Thunder Jet and Harbour Jet -along with Platinum Cruises,Sydney Harbour Whale Watching and Darling Harbour Water Taxis, with over 25 years of marine tourism experience on Sydney Harbour, and is seeking additional skippers to join our dynamic team.
We have multiple Skipper positions available, with both casual and full-time opportunities for the right candidate across our brands.
The successful applicant should have sound experience in boat handling. However, Jet boating experience is not essential, as comprehensive paid on-the-job training is provided.
The position involves skippering the company vessels on Sydney Harbour. The skipper must have a commitment to safety and an understanding of excellent customer service. General knowledge of engines and marine mechanics is desirable but not essential.
Along with skippering the vessels, the skipper offers fun and light-hearted commentary about the sights of Sydney Harbour and must demonstrate excellent communication skills.
When not operating the jet boats, the skipper is a part of a sales team who assists in selling rides and assisting customers. A high level of personal presentation is and an outgoing personality is essential.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Complete daily safety checks of the vessel, engines and equipment.
- Basic maintenance duties and repairs with maintenance crews as required.
- Customer service and care.
- Follow company procedures and policies.
- Safe boarding/disembarking of passengers.
- Safely operate the vessels on Sydney Harbour.
- Bring an amazing personality and FUN to the business.
Skills and experience
- Jet Boating - The minimum qualification is a current Coxswain
- Current 1st Aid Certificate required
