The Smart Lighting Project Manage will be involved in the following:

  • Project management of large scale energy efficient upgrades of street lights. The role involves liaison with a wide range of council, distribution businesses, lighting material providers and other public lighting stakeholders, as well as working closely with other Ironbark staff.
  • Integration and design of Smart Lighting and smart city technologies to support councils and their communities improve community outcomes from smart infrastructure. 
  • Project management and support for Smart Lighting Project management of small to medium sized Lighting Projects such as light level audits, street lighting audits and open space lighting audits with guidance from senior staff members.

Key Duties and Targets:

Key Duty 1

  • Project Manage Lighting Bulk Change projects using Ironbark processes and resources

Measure

  • All recent projects have clear Roles and Responsibilities
  • All projects have an up to date issues, risks and changes register and project management notes
  • Ensure clear communication with both external and internal stakeholders regarding project progress and any risks, issues and changes throughout the project, as well as timely resolution of any issues

Key Duties and Targets:

Key Duty 2

  • Provide oversight and guidance for Project Officers who manage progress reporting, data submissions and field, quality and depot audits for street lighting bulk change projects including communicating outcomes 

Measure

  • New project officers are informed of and guided though auditing, data review, data submission and reporting processes for street lighting bulk change projects 
  • Opportunities for improvements to efficiencies in processes are investigated regularly 
  • Inform key staff of any changes to processes and record any changes to processes

Key Duties and Targets:

Key Duty 3

  • With support from Lighting Lead, project manage small to medium size Lighting Projects such as open space lighting audits, street lighting audits and smaller bulk change projects 

Measure

  • All projects have an up to date issues, risks and changes register and project management notes
  • Can analyse data against Australian Standards and report on outcomes
  • With little guidance, direct GIS/CAD team to produce input maps
  • Timely delivery of projects
  • Timely communication with project leads at Council 
  • Managing internal resourcing

Key Selection Criteria - Skills and Experience:

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to work efficiently
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and in conjunction with a co-worker for long stretches of time
  • Eye for detail
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability issues
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks to support Ironbark staff in non-street Lighting Projects
  • Minimum requirement bachelor degree in planning, business management, science, engineering, architecture or a broad-based field.

Project Management

  • Demonstrated 4+ years experience in project management in the delivery of large scale street lighting and open space Lighting Projects as well as small scale lighting design and field audit – experience with local government, distribution network service providers and Department of Transport and Planning is required 
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of integration of Smart Lighting design and smart city technologies
  • Minimum 4 years experience in aspects of client management including the matching of client needs through proposal development, project implementation and follow up
  • Demonstrated staff management, including providing guidance to project officers and junior Project Managers
  • Skills in managing time setting priorities, planning and organising one’s own work, as well as delegation of work to Project Officers

Demonstrated Workplace Experience

  • Experience in dealing with customers/third parties in a professional manner via mail, phone and in person
  • Experience in developing proposals/quotes
  • Data collection/asset condition auditing experience required 
  • Knowledge of the Australian Standards AS1158 and AS4282 required

Stakeholder Knowledge

  • Knowledge of local government operational frameworks and processes is desirable
  • Knowledge of Smart Lighting and/or smart city systems and technologies
  • Knowledge of Distribution Network Service Provider (DNSP) operational frameworks and processes is required
  • Knowledge of street lighting manufacturers and strong networks within street lighting industry is required(manufacturers, suppliers, installers etc.)

Communication

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking, presentations, meetings, workshops and other group communications
  • Highly developed writing skills, including the ability to produce high quality and well-written reports and proposals
  • Liaises with counterparts in other organisations to discuss specialist matters

Decision-making/Accountability

  • Generally specialized work – may involve improving methods and techniques
  • Guidance and advice usually available
  • Decisions limited to cost and quality of project managed 
  • Provide input in the development of policy

General

  • Ability to work in a small team and in a highly productive environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Up-to-date Australian Driver’s License 
  • Flexible working hours and conditions available
