Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the Southern half of NSW. Where you'll be working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Career Medical Officer to join the medical team at Moruya Hospitals in the Eurobodalla Shire, part of the Coastal Network.
The Eurobodalla Health Service is located in the Yuin Nation on the beautiful south coast of NSW. It is a networked service spread over three campuses, with two hospitals co-located with community health, Moruya and Batemans Bay, and a standalone community health centre in Narooma collocated with the library.
The NSW Government has announced $260 million to build in Moruya, a sustainable, modern and purpose-built hospital to support the needs of the entire Eurobodalla Shire from Narooma to Batemans Bay to service the ever-growing coastal population. This new facility is expected to open to patients in 2025. Moruya Hospital – is a 55 bed hospital at level 3 role delineation. It offers the following services:

  • Emergency department
  • Inpatient acute medical care provided by General Practitioners
  • General and gynaecological surgery
  • Sub-acute - inpatient rehabilitation and palliative care
  • Maternity (antenatal care, birthing and post-natal care)
  • Hospital in The Home
  • An outreach renal dialysis satellite service as a formal network from Canberra
  • Pathology
  • X-ray, ultrasound and CT
Moruya and Batemans Bay Hospitals are all RDA approved hospitals
What you'll be doing
Provide high quality clinical services to patients in the general surgical service in Batemans Bay and Moruya District Hospitals

Selection Criteria * Registered or eligible for General registration as a Medical Practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • At least two years post graduate clinical experience in a hospital setting
  • Appropriate experience to practice under the supervision of a consultant specialist general surgeon
  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with level of appointment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively within the multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations and unpredictable clinical environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in General Surgery
  • A good understanding of the unique demands of rural / regional health will be highly regarded
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive . All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
