Tourism Whitsundays is an industry-driven marketing organisation funded by Whitsunday Regional Council, Tourism and Events Queensland and membership from the tourism industry.
The Social Media and PR Executive will take ownership of our Social Media channels and relationships with local, national and global media. The role will be assisted by the marketing team and will involve strategising, planning and executing Social Media and public relations activity for The Whitsundays. This position reports to the Marketing Manager and requires experience in Social Media management (preferably within the tourism industry) and ideally experience in journalism or media. The successful candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skill and a high degree of attention to detail.
The Social Media and PR Executive will collate and create content for The Whitsundays organic Social Media channels across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn, collaborate with our media agency to inform paid Social Media activity and work with local industry and media outlets to tell the region’s stories.
The successful candidate will have:
- At least 3 years of experience in Social Media management, content marketing or public relations
- A degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications or a relevant field
- The ability to strategise, plan and execute a full Social Media calendar
- Relationships with regional, national and international media outlets, or the desire to build
- Proficiency in writing, creating and editing content
- A high degree of attention to detail
- A strong understanding of all Social Media platforms and their audience
- Experience in the tourism and travel industry (preferred)
This role is based in Airlie Beach and will be full-time, 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
