About the role
The MCGS Social Worker applies clinical experience, specialised knowledge and professional judgment to:
- Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessment and interventions.
- Recognise and support the choices and goals of older persons
- Develop client centred strategies, promoting autonomy and committing to least restrictive practice
- Strengthen relationships with families, carers and other health professionals
- Advocate for older people who are unable to have their voices heard
An employee at this level works under limited clinical supervision, and may provide direction to less experienced professional officers, allied health assistants and students.
An employee at this level accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and support of less experienced staff.
