Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a Social Worker – Social and Emotional Well-Being (SEWB) who will provide high quality Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug and Social and Emotional Well-Being (MHAODSEWB) care that delivers measurable improvements in the health of people in East Arnhem in a culturally informed manner. This full-time fixed term role till July 2025, is based in Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory with regular travel required accross East Arnhem Land. Competitive salary between $113,785 - $119,569 annum pro rata.

Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region.
Essential Requirements
Social Worker (SEWB) will ensure the application of contemporary evidence-based approaches to MHAODSEWB and co-morbidity which are responsive to community needs in a cross-cultural setting. This role will also provide triage, intake, assessment, case management and a range of counselling and treatment services that will complement clinical review, provide consultancy, and support staff, clients, and members of the community. Candidates must have a post graduate qualification in Social Work, minimum 2 years’ experience working remote; and will also have an understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and the issues faced by Yolŋu people living in remote settings.
