This cohesive team prides themselves on their support given to ADF members, and their families, when they are transitioning back into civilian life. They have a holistic approach which will provide support in the areas they need it the most.
Working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide person-centred therapy and assistance to Vets to help them live a fulfilling life. Compassion and understanding will be key in building successful relationships for recovery.
Duties:
- Identifying and supporting veterans (and their families) who are in need of help.
- Assessing clients' needs, situations, strengths, and support networks.
- Helping clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives.
- Offering information, counselling, therapy and referral to other agencies and services
- Providing mental health counselling.
- Conducting initial assessments of clients' situations.
- Researching and advocating for appropriate public assistance resources.
- Communicating with clients' care teams.
- Providing crisis intervention as needed.
- Monitoring clients' progress and maintaining records or case files
- Maintain all documentation required and ensure compliance to timeframes, client requirements and collaborate with stakeholders for all coordination and implementation processes
Essentials for the role:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work
- Full registration with AHPRA.
- Experienced in the treatment and management of post-traumatic stress disorder.
- Ability to develop and provide treatment and recovery plans for individuals and families, as required.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
- Computer proficiency, including the ability to use client information management systems.
- Open Drivers License
- Direct experience in delivering Psychological or related services to current or ex-serving Defence personnel and their families is highly regarded
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team would set you up for success in this role
