In this role, you'll:
Working as part of a agile team that supports the development and enhancement of Customer Information Channels and applications for use by Sydney Trains customers and stakeholders.
As a Java Backend Application Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems that power our cutting-edge Customer Information applications. You will work closely with our cross-functional team to implement scalable and secure cloud-based solutions, ensuring the seamless operation of our services.
This is a permanent full time opportunity and is based at Burwood with hybrid ways of working.
Flexibility to work occassional overtime (after hours) and availability for On call roster is required.

About you
- Proven experience as a Java Backend Developer with a strong understanding of Java and its ecosystems.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Proficiency in SQL and database management.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools.
- Previous experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
