Software Support Engineer

We are looking for a skilled individual who will be responsible for gathering requirements from primary support teams as well as the development of software tools, reporting to the Digital Group Team Leader. 

What you will do:

• Collaborate with technicians, engineers and product support staff to gather requirements for support tools
• Develop and maintain software applications to be used for the production, installation and maintenance of satellite communications systems
• Introduce continuous improvements and increased efficiency to the software or business processes by utilizing innovative techniques and the reuse of existing solutions
• Provide documentation, training and support for support tools
• Lead or assist in the conceptualisation, description, design, and development of new intellectual property that could result in new inventions, designs, products, and services

What you will need to succeed:

• Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Computer Science or similar
• Strong communications skills, including documentation and working effectively with other group members 
• Proficiency in Python programming, especially GUI based applications
• Experience with source code management and version control 
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP protocols, particularly DHCP and DNS
• Testing, debugging and problem solving skills
• 3 to 5 years of relevant engineering experience would be highly regarded
• Possession of, or the ability to qualify for, an Australian defence security clearance (baseline minimum, NV1 preferred)
