An exciting opportunity is available for a Sonographer to join the Radiology team at Lithgow hospital on a permanent full time basis. In this role you will provide high quality imaging that is patient focused, according to the objectives and policies of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The Medical Radiation Scientist (MRS) is personally accountable for their work and professional conduct and shall adhere to The Guidelines for Professional Conduct for Radiographers and Radiation Therapists as issued by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and as outlined in the Statement of Practice by Sonographers as issued by the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.The MRS will demonstrate a high level of proficiency and knowledge in ultrasound through the proven ability to competently perform a range of complex and routine clinical procedures and will participate in the development and review of protocols and techniques utilising reports, CPD activities and publications to maintain a high level of expertise in the relevant area. They will participate in the CPD program for MRS's and sonographers and other health professionals as well as completing mandatory performance development and training as prescribed by the LHD.The MRS will participate and support quality improvement activities at section and departmental levels. They will assume the responsibility of safety of patients, visitors and staff in accordance to WH&S principles and NBMLHD policies. The MRS will initiate/assist with strategies to control and avoid hazards in the workplace as is responsible for maintaining infection control and a clean and tidy workplace.An eligibility list may be created for future vacancies.About us:

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.Selection Criteria to be Addressed: * Degree in Medical Radiation Science and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Medical Radiation Practitioner (Diagnostic Radiography).
- Current I14 Radiation Licence from NSW EPA and ASAR Registration.
- Post graduate diploma in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound.
- Demonstrated high standard of knowledge, clinical experience and proficiency in ultrasound across a broad range of examinations.
- An ability to supervise, instruct and mentor other MRS' and undergraduates.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
