Specialist Clinician (Remuneration Package Range $240,445- $293,843)
Senior Specialist Clinician (Remuneration Package Range $303,839 - $335,923)
Selection will be made at the SC or SSC level depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
This is a part time vacancy available for 0.6 (22 hrs and 48 mins) per week.
One vacancy is available for 12 months, working in Darwin and Palmerston.
Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals (RDPH) is the tertiary referral centre for the Top End of the Northern Territory. The Infectious Diseases Unit provides both an inpatient and outpatient Infectious Diseases service, leads the Viral Hepatitis Service and provides clinical oversight to the Hospital in the Home Service as well as staffing 1 of 6 General Medical units. It also supports the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship programs within the hospital. The Department has strong links with the Territory Pathology Microbiology Service, The NT Centre for Disease Control and Menzies School of Health Research. This position includes time dedicated to providing Infectious Diseases clinical support to the Infection Prevention unit at RDPH as well as the regional hospitals within Top End Health Service, in addition to clinical responsibilities.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Provide high quality safe inpatient, outpatient and consultative clinical services in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases including Hospital in the Home, both within RDPH and via telephone to other regional hospitals within the Top End and Central Australian Health Services, including after-hours as part of an oncall roster.
• Provide specialist Infectious Diseases medical support to the Infection Prevention services within Top End Health Services including clinical advice, input into guidelines and procedures, education to staff and participation in relevant Hospital Committees
• Provide specialist support, education and information to staff, service providers and community groups as required.
• Undertake Quality Improvement activities, review and revise policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Participate in continuous medical education including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, professional development, peer review, research, teaching, and clinical audits as appropriate.
Essential:
• Eligible for specialist medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Appropriate specialist qualifications including Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent, with sub specialty training in Infectious Diseases.
Desirable:
• Previous experience working within the field of Infection Prevention and Control within the hospital setting.
• Sub-specialty training within General Medicine.
