About the Role

Reporting to the Emergency Services Supervisor, the Emergency Services Specialist (2IC) is a proactive and inclusive leader, supporting the supervisor and emergency response team safely achieve emergency response discipline outcomes. They facilitate day to day emergency team activities and contribute to the improvement of emergency response capabilities.   The role is responsible for leading a diverse team of emergency professionals and volunteers and acting in the role of supervisor when required. You will be responsible to maintain operational readiness, equipment inspection, maintenance and assisting with the safe facilitation of emergency response activities.   Please note this position is based at Carrapateena, operating either residentially or FIFO from Adelaide or Port Augusta on a 8:6 dayshift / 7:7 Nightshift roster.    In this role you will:   

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care, by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing, and coaching your team,
  • Ensure that operational emergency response readiness is maintained, including meeting team training requirements and the inspection and maintenance equipment and vehicles,
  • Proactively collaborate with work areas, fostering positive and productive working relationships by conducting work area inspections, in-field task observations and verifying critical control effectiveness
  • Plan, manage, and deliver projects that generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework, and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. 
  • Prioritise work effort and resources accordingly

About You

Required:

  • Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Health Care or equivalent / higher
  • HR Drivers License
  • Minimum of C class driver’s license
  • TAE – Training and Assessment

  Desirable Qualifications  

  • Experience in leading and managing industrial emergency response teams.
