The Women’s Legal Service (SA), InDIGO program, provides wrap around legal and non-legal support to women experiencing domestic violence. Assistance will be provided to women and children through intensive case management and will be delivered and targeted to women with the greatest needs.
The Financial Counsellor will work alongside other members of Women’s Legal Service (WLSSA) multi-disciplinary team to coordinate services and activities with women and their children that foster strength, safety, healthy living, overall well-being, and an achievement of justice.
The Financial Counsellor will:
- provide high level and confidential financial counselling to clients including assistance with budgeting, Centrelink and assistance with accessing available grants or no interest loan schemes;
- provide accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues; and
- refer clients where appropriate to other services as needed.
- advocate on behalf of clients; and
- deliver financial community education.
These activities will build capacity within and empower women to improve their financial literacy and to reclaim their financial independence.
The InDIGO program is located at Christies Beach. The program includes outreach to services in multiple locations across the southern metropolitan region catchment area.
The Financial Counsellor will be located at the office, but travel will be required to other locations in the southern outer metropolitan catchment area.

The salary range for the position is dependent on experience and is between level 4 and 6 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 plus superannuation plus salary sacrifice. Salary will be negotiated and is subject to experience.
