About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Practitioner for our Alexis Family Violence Program! You will provide specialist response, intensive short term interventions to men who have perpetrated Family Violence. This role is embedded within the Victorian Police Family Violence Investigation Unit.
Responsibilities include
- Ensure clients provided with non-judgemental, holistic support that demonstrate mission and values of The Salvation Army
- Demonstrate commitment to justice within the workplace and community
- Demonstrate awareness of issues in lives of women and children who are experiencing or recovering from Family Violence
- Adopt holistic approach to address Family Violence and acknowledge cultural differences and respond in a culturally safe and sensitive way
- Conduct intake and assessment, on-going risk assessments to inform and develop comprehensive support and safety plans
- Provide short term case coordination and case management
This is a fixed-term full-time position, contracted until July 2025, based in Prahran, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 6 Award.
What you will have
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work / Social Sciences or related fields is essential. Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Recommendation 209)
- Demonstrated Family Violence experience
- At least five years case management experience and skills
- Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working with men using violence
- Strong and authentic interpersonal skills with experience working with a range of clients
- Someone who is committed to ending Family Violence and understands the drivers of Family Violence
- An understanding of the complexities that come with working with Men who use violence
- The ability to critically analyse information, undertake assessments and provide advice and guidance to other practitioners
- A full Australian Driver's Licence
