South West Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (SWBIRS) provides specialist rehabilitation to individuals with an acquired brain injury. The service is provided by a multidisciplinary allied health team who have experience in cognitive and physical rehabilitation and community re-entry.
The service is based in Albury and Wagga. It includes community outreach rehabilitation services (adult and paediatric) and a 4-bed transitional living unit (TLU) in Albury. The team combines centre based intervention, district outreach and virtual care to provide accessible rehabilitation to individuals living across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. This position is based in NSW.
The service is linked to rehabilitation services in MLHD and to other specialist brain injury rehabilitation services in NSW.
About the Role
The Speech Pathologist provides assessment, intervention and rehabilitation coordination for primarily adults and occasionally paediatrics with acquired brain injury. The Speech Pathologist works collaboratively with clients, family members, the rehabilitation team and other services to support individuals to achieve their rehabilitation goals. Discipline specific peer support is available from the other Speech Pathologist on the team.
