Overview
BLC is seeking a Speech Pathologist interested in a Learning Disorders caseload. In addition to school-aged patients, our point of difference is the services we provide to university students and adult clients.
- Part time role (0.2-0.4 FTE, with scope to grow).
- You will be the second SP in our small team (currently 1 x Senior SP, 1 x admin).
- Days and hours highly negotiable.
- Experienced clinicians desired but the role is also suitable for new grads. Full training provided and weekly supervision at a minimum.
Primary client types and services:
- Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, DLD, ADHD, ID.
- School aged (5-18 years), university students, adults.
- Assessment and diagnosis for dyslexia, dysgraphia, DLD.
- Literacy therapies such as systematic synthetic phonics, complex syntax, paragraph and text structures, reading fluency and comprehension etc.
Secondary services (this is a smaller portion of the caseload):
- ASD (neurodiversity affirming practice, interpersonal interactions, relationships etc).
- Social/Emotional work (e.g. emotional literacy, problem solving, perspective taking etc).
- Paed speech + language.
- Narrative therapy.

Location and hours:
- You will be based out of our clinic in Cleveland and have your own office.
- Days and hours are quite flexible and can be negotiated. (e.g. 1-2 full days per week, or spread the equivalent hours across the week at times convenient for you).
- Travel may be required at times although is usually a small portion of the role and is negotiable. If you do need to travel, you will be fully reimbursed for time and fuel/tolls etc.
Ideal applicant:
- Given the specialised caseload, it is essential that you have a high degree of proficiency in reading and writing. Your own natural aptitude in this area will complement the therapeutic approaches we use.
- Previous experience with this caseload is not necessary as full training can be provided, however previous work in education or with language/literacy caseload and/or in the education sector is highly desirable.
Mandatory Certifications:
Bachelor or Masters of Speech Pathology
Blue card (QLD) - Paid Employee
SPA membership (in order to be eligible for medicare)
