Sports Injury Emergency General Practitioner (GP) to join our esteemed team.
Position Overview:We are looking for multiple skilled and experienced General Practitioners with a passion for sports medicine to work on weekends at OrthoSport Victoria Institute in our new Weekend Sports injury
Emergency Clinic. The successful candidates will be vital in providing medical care and support to athletes and individuals with musculoskeletal conditions. This position will be on a rotation basis, and you will not be expected to work every weekend.
Key Responsibilities:- Conducting medical assessments and diagnoses for patients with sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, including concussion.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans, including prescribing medications, orthopaedic referrals, physiotherapy referrals, and coordinating further investigations.
- Collaborating with our multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, orthopaedic specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Providing education to patients on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and overall musculoskeletal health.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with professional standards.
- Participating in regular team meetings to discuss complex cases and treatment plans.
- Provide a comprehensive weekend handover to the OSVi team for ongoing management.
Qualifications and Skills:- Medical degree and full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- General Practitioner Fellowship or equivalent qualification.
- Experience or interest in sports medicine and musculoskeletal health.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
