Tasmanian Berries is a family owned, innovative and ever-expanding berry business in Central Northern Tasmania. The Business operates over two farm sites, comprising 42 hectares of hydroponically grown strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries, producing premium quality fresh berries for the Australian domestic market.

Role 

Spray Operator/ Farm Hand will be responsible for liaising with the agronomy team to apply appropriate chemical sprays as well as assisting management in the everyday aspects of running of the Business. 

Daily tasks will include but aren’t limited to:

• Conduct prestart checklists on machinery and operate with safety always in mind 
• Apply chemicals as determined by agronomy team including insecticide, fungicide, and herbicide. And operate machinery specific to each application 
• Complete spray records 
• Ensure spray tanks and machinery are cleaned at the conclusion of each application
• Irrigation maintenance and installation 
• Tunnel building 
• Tunnel maintenance 
• Trellis maintenance 
• Reporting of any abnormalities of plant health to management 
• Assist with other on farm tasks as directed  

Knowledge, skills, attributes, and other characteristics 

• Ability to operate small tractors, currently using 211v Fendts 
• Commitment to safe working practices 
• Basic math and writing skills necessary 
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with people from different cultures and backgrounds 
• ChemicalCert would be highly advantageous 
• Ability to work outdoors in all conditions 
• General hours are M-F 730am-400pm however, flexibility for occasional weekends and overtime will be required in order to get the job done.
