Farm Hand
Tasmanian Berries has recently expanded into Queensland.
We require 3 full-time staff working a minimum 38 hours a week. Successful applicants will work across both our Spray and Maintenance teams commencing August 2024 for until April 2025. The work will be based at the following farm.
- 43 Knockroe Road, North Isis, QLD, 4660
Work will be primarily Spray Operating and Farm Maintenance.
The duties of the work will include but are not limited to:
Operate spraying equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Carry out daily checks on spray equipment including cleaning.
Liaise with the Agronomy team on spraying requirements and complete spray record sheets as required.
Ensure all safe work procedures are adhered to at all times.
Operating a tractor for ground preparation.
Other Farm Hand duties as required.
Applicants must:
Be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Be fit and healthy; not be colour blind or vision impaired (as the role requires employees to pick berries at specific stages of ripeness);
Be able to multi-task with attention to detail.
Be able to acquire good speed and to learn manual tasks
Be able to follow instructions, learn and apply new process quickly
Be able to work in a team environment.
Be willing to attain a Chemical handling accreditation
When farm work is conducted, it will be paid as an hourly rate, all work is performed under the Horticulture Award 2020 Level 2 and the minimum rate is $24.10 per hour. Upskilling and additional allowances may also be paid if you are trained in extra tasks, leading hand or first aid.
Hours worked will generally be Monday to Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. Weekend work may occasionally be required.
