Job description:
The Department of Health is seeking applications from fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) to fill the key positions of Director (also known now at RACP as Training Program Director) and Deputy Director of Physician Education.
The Department of Health is seeking applications from fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) to fill the key positions of Director (also known now at RACP as Training Program Director) and Deputy Director of Physician Education.
The appointees will form a small team consisting of a Director of Physician Education (DPE), a Deputy Director of Physician Education, and administrative support. The positions may be shared by two appointees by mutual agreement.
These positions offer an exciting opportunity to drive this pivotal program that supports and educates the physicians of the future. The BPT trainees form a vital part of our medical workforce now and into the future. The RACP program is rigorous, comprehensive, and exacting. The college requires a robust and high-quality educational program in its accredited training facilities. The appointees will engage in the process of designing and overseeing the future teaching program to meet accreditation standards and obligations under the new award. Preparation for both the written and clinical exams is also a key part of the role.
We are looking for physicians who:
Are passionate about Physician Training
Have or will complete the three mandated RACP supervisor courses
Have or will acquire detailed knowledge of the RACP training requirements
Have an interest in medical education
Have well proven organisational and communication skills
Are willing to provide support and ‘pastoral’ care to the physician trainees
Can set up and run the teaching program by engaging with the entire RACP community at RHH.
Details of Appointment
Director: Fixed term, part time, day work position working 15.2 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for approximately two years.
Deputy Director: Fixed term, part time, day work position working 15.2 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for approximately two years.
Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant/s
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary
$210,000 - $301,349 pro rata per annum
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Levels 1, 2 and 3 as described in the Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.
Classification
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 to Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.

Essential Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
Certification of completion of all three SPDP workshops
Director:
Five years RACP Fellowship
Three years experience supervising medical trainees as an Educational Supervisor in RACP Basic Training (or equivalent experience)
Deputy Director:
RACP Fellowship
Experience supervising medical trainees as an Educational Supervisor in RACP Basic Training (or equivalent experience)
