The RHH is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region and state.
The Emergency Department has direct access to all medical and surgical specialities and has approximately 75,000 presentations per year. The Department has in excess of 250 staff, consisting of medical, nursing, allied health, clerical, aides, and orderlies.
The Emergency Department is staffed by specialists, registrars, nurses and clinical support staff who work together as a dynamic team with strong focus on collegiality.

Salary
$210,000 - $301,349 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11% Superannuation Contribution is on top of this amount.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a fully maintained motor vehicle allowance of $27,535 pro rata per annum.
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 pro rata per annum
- Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.

- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2022.
Multiple Vacancies:
- Permanent full-time or part-time shift work (with on-call), working up to 76 hours per fortnight*.
- Fixed term full-time or part-time shift work (with on-call) working up to 76 hours per fortnight*.

Primary Purpose
Provide specialist emergency care to public and private patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at RHH.
Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
Duties
1. Patient Care:
- Medical care of ED patients.
- Undertake procedures as required in ED.
- Participate in after hours on call roster.
- Undertake undergraduate clinical teaching at RHH.
- Provide supervision and training of post graduate trainees.
- Maintain involvement in research activities.
- Provide administrative and quality improvement functions for units as required
- Work closely with corresponding nursing staff and support staff in the ED.
- Participation in disaster preparedness planning.
