Job description

Princess Alexandra Hospital are looking for one full-time and one part-time Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist (Interventional Radiology) who are interested in joining an established high-quality Interventional Radiology(IR) service. The IR consultant will perform elective and after-hours IR procedures at the Princess Alexandra Hospital as part of the Metro South Health division of Queensland Health. This opportunity is open to both experienced consultants and to those who have just completed or are due to complete their Interventional specialist training.

About the Role

  • Actively participate in the professional development of junior staff, medical students and non-medical staff, whilst continuing own professional development, in order to maximise the professional expertise offered to patients
  • Interpret Diagnostic imaging including CTA, MRA and US Imaging for adult patients requiring intervention.
  • Perform endovascular coiling in the management of acute bleed – trauma, GI bleed.
  • Perform angioplasty and stenting in the setting of vascular disease, transplant and fistular management.
  • Perform diagnostic angiography of the limbs and visceral organs. insertion and retrieval of IVC filters.
  • Perform advanced liver interventions including PTC and TIPPS.
  • Perform nephrostomy and ureteric stenting.
  • Diagnostic reporting of cross sectional imaging CT and MR.
  • Perform embolisation of body and limb aneurysms / AVMs.
  • Perform solid organ embolisation, MW / RF ablation.
  • Perform CT/US guided procedures including drainages and biopsy.
  • Perform Tier A and Tier B procedures.
  • Obtained EBIR or equivalent. Or willing to obtain the qualification.
