About the role
Based at Seymour, the Station Assistant provides station coverage & customer care along the line, from Melbourne to Shepparton and through to Albury.
As a member of the Customer team, the Station Assistant works with the Services Officer and Services Manager in the operations of the facilities and customer services activities at the Seymour station and from time to time will be required to support other stations down the line with customer information and daily operations.
The Station Assistant is responsible for maintaining the delivery of service to customers, ensuring the provision of best possible train and coach services to V/Line passengers.
This is a permanent, part-time role with a 4-week, rotating-roster that includes early starts, late finishes, weekends, & public holidays. There will also be opportunities to pick up additional hours.
As part of V/Line’s commitment to developing our talent, this role requires you to complete training and perform duties as a Reserve Conductor
Responsibilities of the Station Assistant include:
- Delivering excellent customer service and assist customers with all aspects of their journey, including making announcements and assisting with bus replacements
- Maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of the station
- Working as part of cohesive station team
- Overseeing the safety of all customers
- Supporting customers down the line with customer information and daily operations
Essential
- Successful completion of Year 10 (minimum)
- Victorian Driver Licence
- Willingness & ability to travel to other stations, to provide service along the line
- Availability for shift work & overtime

This position is classified as a TRAINEE STATION STAFF ($26.3917) whilst doing training for 4-6 weeks in Melbourne.
Upon successful completion of the Trainee Station Staff training, the position is then classified as a STN ASSISTANT C3 ($33.1933) in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019.
This is a Medical Category 3 position. The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police) check, and medical check.
