Based in Geelong, we are seeking an enthusiastic and values-driven individual for a Steel Detailer Draftsperson position within our growing Geelong team.
Position Overview
Hanlon Industries is seeking an experienced Steel Detailer to join our dynamic team. As a Steel Detailer at Hanlon Industries, you will play a crucial role in supporting our projects by creating accurate 3D Models shop drawings and documentation.
Role Responsibilities:
- Use Tekla Structures to produce accurate shop drawings, including part drawing, assembly drawings and GA drawings for the fabrication and erection of steel work.
- Collaborate closely with Engineers and Project Managers at Hanlon Industries to understand project requirements, objectives, and specifications.
- Review and revise drawings and designs based on feedback from Hanlon Industries' Engineers and Project Managers.
- Deliver to the agreed schedules for all projects.
- Collaborate with architects, surveyors, and subcontractors to incorporate their input into the design and resolve any conflicts or discrepancies.
- Maintain an organised library of drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to ensure easy retrieval and reference.
- Stay up to date with the latest software and industry trends, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance drafting processes and productivity at Hanlon Industries.
- Complying with Building Codes, industry standards, and company policies
- Participate actively in project meetings, providing technical support and insights as required.
Role Requirements:
- Min 2 years Steel Detailing or min 5 years background within a steel fabrication environment
- Experience using detailing software such as Tekla Structures or similar packages.
- Proficient computer skills
- Basic AutoCAD and Microsoft office skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the production of accurate and error-free shop drawings.
- In-depth knowledge of structural steel terminology, symbols, and practices.
- Familiarity with surveying methods. Working with 3D scanners and Point Clouds is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and interpret design requirements accurately.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards at Hanlon Industries.
- Strong problem-solving skills, enabling the identification and resolution of design issues.
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all aspects of work.
