What you'll be doing
To ensure the smooth functioning of the CSSD and ensure patient safety is maintained at all times. To maintain the high standards necessary in the provision of sterilising services and thermal disinfection of reusable medical devices, which involves the collection and receipt of contaminated instruments and equipment for reprocessing. Packing, Sterilisation of reusable instruments.. Ensuring compliance with AS5369:2023 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and other devices in health and non-health related facilities & Infection Control Guidelines.
Annual mandatory and competency based training is required in addition to attending related in-services and contributing to WH&S and department enhancements.
The primary purpose of the position is to provide sterile and thermally disinfected medical and surgical equipment to all areas for use in patient care in accordance with current Australian Standards and policies and procedures developed by SSD Management.
To work in all areas of the Sterilising Services to maintain the high standards in all processes involved with sterilisation and other procedures performed within the unit as well as acknowledging the services contribution to patient care.
The reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices (RMD’s) used in Health Services Organisations, (HSO’s) adhering to AS/NZS 4187-2014.

- Certificate in Sterilisation technology with previous experience in a Sterilising Services department.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral including the ability to listen to and undertake direction.
- Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and strict time frames in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to communicate well and function harmoniously within a team environment.
- Understanding of Infection Prevention and Control guidelines, National Sterilisation standards and WH&S requirements.
- Ability to meet all physical requirements as described in the position description.
