About The Role SALVOS STORES Port Sorell plays a pivotal role in supporting the local community and is a destination for the second-hand retail enthusiasts in the Northern suburbs of Tasmania, it’s become a well-loved part of the local community. We're looking for that special manager who loves and embraces a diverse customer mix, and enjoys waking up each day with a passion for making a difference in the community where they’re based.

Our unique business proposition in Salvos Stores means that no two products are the same, and every day is literally a different day; we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive as a leader in our business, and have the capabilities and drive to lead and grow the Port Sorell business. Ideally you’ll have a fashion background, and know your brands, and you may also know a thing or two about homewares and books. However, even if you’ve come from a different retail background we’d still love to hear from you.

What is essential is that you’re a proven people leader who knows how to empower your team and have fun; deliver outstanding results in a dynamic and rewarding retail environment, and have a passion for sustainability and making a difference in people’s lives. As a retail leader it goes without saying that you’ll be experienced in: Leading, growing and developing a team of paid employees and volunteers across multiple departments Ensuring extraordinary customer service is provided every day, in every interaction Reading, analysing and interpreting business reports to deliver on all business targets and outcomes, including using spreadsheets and other applications as required Embedding exceptional operational and visual merchandising standards Role-modeling a ‘safety first’ culture Ensuring company policies and procedures are adhered to Importantly, as someone known for your integrity, you will also be comfortable aligning to The Salvation Army Mission and Values.
