About the Organisation
Aurukun Shire Council (ASC) is an Indigenous community with a population of around 1400 people. Council provides a variety of services to the community that include provision of education, health, community, and welfare services; operation of airport, postal and bank agencies; development and maintenance of roads and housing. Funding is received through both State and Federal governments.
About the Role
Based in Aurukun and reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Stores Supervisor will contribute productively to the Aurukun community through the operation and management of the Council Stores.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring that quotes are obtained for all supplies, orders are placed and processed, and stock is checked on arrival ensuring correct stock is delivered
- Arranging orders for materials, tools and equipment required for the workshop and maintenance crew;
- Ensure Councils Workplace Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are followed and carried out.
- Maintaining appropriate levels of stock and managing times and methods of delivery (barge, air freight, road);
- Maintaining stock levels including fuel and any stockpiles through Council’s computerised system.
- Receipt of delivery of goods, sign off of delivery documentation, storage of delivered materials; Distribution of goods to community organisations as required;
- Maintenance of inventory quantities and monitoring of stock levels against inventory list;
- Maintaining strict controls of goods entering and leaving the stores;
- Ensure high quality customer service for both internal and external customers Selection Criteria
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in stores operations, including stock ordering and stocktake;
- Open unrestricted driver’s license and a forklift operators ticket;
- Competent in use of MS Office and computer skills;
- Finance administration skills including ordering;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to negotiate, conflict manage and diffuse volatile situations;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes;
- Capacity to demonstrate a high level of commitment to interact positively in a remote Aboriginal community;
- Understanding of legislation, or ability to acquire legislative knowledge of Aurukun Shire Council Local Laws and relative State and Federal
