Our vision is to lead a connected government that delivers a brighter future for Western Australians. Our areas of responsibility include Office of Digital Government, Intergovernmental Relations and Strategic Priorities, Aboriginal Engagement and Community Policy, Infrastructure, Economy and Environment, and State Services.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity for an energetic and motivated individual to join the Office of the Director General (ODG) in a key policy role and to support the Director General in her daily and strategic leadership of the Department.

In this role you will collaborate and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Working in partnership with the Director General, Corporate Executive members and other senior managers, you will provide high-level policy support, advice and analysis in relation to Government policies across various portfolios.

We are looking for a strategic thinker who can influence and drive complex high quality, evidence-based policy outcomes. You have extensive professional experience and use your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to establish understanding and achieve results.

Your values align with the Department’s, Leadership, Connection and Impact. You are proactive and look for opportunities to value add, providing advice and expert analysis to the Director General.

You are driven, organised and have an eye for detail. You have a ‘can do’ mindset, are creative and love working in a complex and dynamic environment.

Most of all, you have excellent people skills, enjoy working with people and have a passion for staff engagement and wellbeing. As a highly experienced practitioner you will mentor and readily share your knowledge and experience with other members of the team and Department.

If you are up for the challenge and like the idea of working at the centre of government, we would love to hear from you. We will provide you with access to bespoke professional development and executive coaching to help further your leadership journey, noting recent occupants have been appointed to SES positions and an international secondment.

Equity and Diversity

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet is committed to improving employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As a measure to achieve equality and support, section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) will apply to this position. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
