Key Responsibilities:
Compliance and Tax Services
Oversight of client tax compliance including.
Preparation and lodgement of Activity statements
Monthly and yearly payroll tax compliance
PAYG and STP reporting and compliance.
Oversight of superannuation obligations
Liaising with the ATO and OSR when required
Financial Statements
Drafting of annual Financial Statements, in addition to monthly management accounts and reporting packages
Preparation of income tax reconciliations for inclusion in client accounts
Significantly adding value and maintaining client relationships
Client Accounting Systems and Processes
Development of client accounting systems and processes, including accounting and associated software implementation for clients. Assisting with creating, reviewing, and updating process procedure manuals for client internal accounting.
Assisting with creating and managing the source data provided by the client to ensure all the financial records in the different accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB) are accurate
Management and oversight of Client Daily Accounting Processes
Responsibility for and oversight of all general accounting processes including: client balance sheet and profit and loss review, general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable processing, ensuring accuracy of accounting and compliance with relevant accounting standards as required, cash flow management and advice.
Payroll - Management and administration of payroll through multiple platforms, provision of technical expertise with respect to wage calculation, PAYG, superannuation obligations, termination and redundancy and other areas of technical payroll support provided in the context of a payroll administrator.
Management Reporting
Accounting management reporting packages
Utilisation of dashboarding software and applications to develop dashboard analytical reporting for clients.
Technical review of accounting disclosures in accounts.
Assistance in preparing client budgets and forecasting.
Analytical review of accounts.
Client Communication and Management
Drafting email communication and handling day to day communication with clients.
Training and assisting clients to administer their accounting files.
People
Training Junior accountants, including graduates and undergraduate accountants
Review of junior and senior accountants work
Team & Service Line Delivery
Assistance with development of standard procedures and workpapers.
Assistance with the roll out of new technology and applications.
Assistance with fee proposals and engagement letters.
Management of staff resources, workflow and job allocations
Review of client WIP and monthly billings
Review of internal and external procedures to efficiencies and accuracies in processes are best practice, mainly through technology solutions.
Tracking client deadlines and targets are met
Demonstrated Education, Experience & Attributes
Essential
University degree in Accounting or relevant discipline preferred
TAFE or Business College administration course may be acceptable with relevant experience
May include CA or CPA qualification (or aspirations to complete)
Proficiency in Xero, MYOB and other Cloud Accounting Programs and Apps
5 years in a similar role
Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously.
Deadline driven
Beneficial to be aware or have used cloud-based accounting apps, for example Receiptbank, Hubdoc, KeyPay.
