About the Position
The Strategic Project Officer is responsible for the management of strategic and policy projects, and supporting the development, delivery and evaluation of key plans, such as strategy and action plans. As part of the Strategy Team, the Strategic Project Officer works across the organisation to encourage aligned, collaborative projects that turn strategy into the action our community wants to see.
With a specific focus on developing a Housing and Homelessness Strategy for council, including a comprehensive assessment of housing needs within the region, (affordability, accessibility and diversity of housing options), this position is responsible for coordinating through to presenting the strategy for adoption.
About You
You have a passion and energy for housing and homelessness issues that is matched by your deep knowledge and experience working in government or the housing sector. Your excellent communication skills allow you to establish and maintain positive working relationships across external and internal stakeholder groups, from senior managers and industry representatives to community leaders and council staff. As a confident project manager with a genuine community focus, you love to bring together all the voices and synthesise ideas into clear, evidence-based strategies that reflect stakeholder input and achieve practical outcomes.
Key Selection Criteria:
- High-level understanding of contemporary housing challenges and opportunities, and related policy issues
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-functional cross department project teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles.
- Experience in facilitating and leading groups.
- Proven time management skills, including the ability to prioritise, plan and organise activities in a changing work environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as urban or social planning, community services, project management, strategy, or equivalent relevant experience.
