Street Youth Worker - Crisis Response Team

Our service provides a new and growing 24/7 crisis hotline for police, teachers, security officers, hospitals, council rangers, public transport officers, crisis services and any first responders who come into contact with vulnerable young people out on the streets who have disengaged from mainstream services.

This Hotline offers a gateway to a Triaging Hub, through which those currently over-extended frontline workers can ensure vulnerable young people are connected and linked into the correct support services within their localities in real-time.

Locations covers are Bankstown, Fairfield & Campbelltown city areas.

Duties and responsibilities

• Support the 24/7 hotline by responding to any urgent or crisis call outs for a young person in need which may include calls from the hours of 11pm - 7am to respond to crisis in person. (For example attend to a police station, hospital or refuge services)
• Support and connect the young person to the correct services in order to re-engage back into ongoing and supportive environment 
• Use a therapeutic approach to navigate the young person safely out of any dangerous or difficult situations 
• Liase with the on call and triage teams to efficiently manage any crisis situations 

Successful candidates must be 

• Willing to be part of a 24/7 team of crisis responders and attend an emergency situation if needed including in person and/or over the phone
• Have previous experience within the field of therapeutic youth work and be comfortable to manage complex and challenging behaviour
• Be confident to liase with members of the public/first responders such as the police force/ambulance services
• Hold a minimum Cert IV in Youth Work, Community Services or similar 
• Hold a valid WWCC, Police check along with first aid and CPR certs
• Covid vaccinations and booster 
• NSW Drivers licence
