About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a part time permanent Youth Caseworker for the Youth and Family Support Service based in Cooma, 2630.This is a part time role 28hrs a week.

The Youth and Family Support Caseworker responsibilities;

  • To receive and follow up referrals, engage with young people and/or their families and assess whether the client has low to medium needs, whether the services required are within the scope of the program and the likely duration of services required.
  • To provide an appropriate response based on the various activities in the model i.e. Advice and Support, case management, skill focused groups, counselling and/or parenting programs.
  • To work collaboratively with the young person’s family and relevant parties to ensure effective case planning, review processes and family conferencing.
  • To review Case Plans every three months.
  • To work with the family, role modelling and assisting to develop parenting skills, one on one  work with young people, transport, practical assistance, advocacy, liaison with other groups and agencies both Government and Non-Government, referral, and crisis response as required. Facilitation of parenting and young people groups may also be required.
  • To maintain case records in accordance with Barnardos policy
  • Monitor child protection issues, consult, and act in accordance with The NSW Children and Young Persons (Care & Protection) Act 1998, 2010 and Barnardos Australia “Reporting of Child Abuse Policy”.
About You
As a Youth and Family Support Caseworker you will ideally have;
  • Demonstrated understanding of casework practice including assessment and preparation of case plans.
  • Knowledge of child/youth development and parenting.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with young people at risk and their families.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaborating and working with other agencies to deliver services to young people and/or families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while still being part of a team.
  • Proven communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with a capacity to facilitate groups.
  • Proven ability to make decisions independently and to be able to work as part of a team.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including a high level of computer literacy.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families as required

Salary: Base $71,136 to $82,054 pro rata per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
