The Opportunity

As the Student Engineer, you will support the investigation, planning and design of Council’s transport and associated civil infrastructure. Under supervision and guidance, you will assist in a variety of activities including transportation planning, advocacy and design. This will be achieved through tasks such as on-site inspections, data analysis, identification and review of appropriate treatments and drafting of minor capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond positively and punctually within specified timelines to enquiries and requests and adhere to the performance standards adopted in the Customer Service Charter.
• Undertake and assist engineering staff with engineering issues that may include investigations, reports, correspondence and support in all areas including design, asset management, traffic and infrastructure.
• Undertake general engineering investigations including the design and drawing of minor civil projects as directed using AutoCAD.
• Process and administer engineering applications.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

• Current enrolment in Civil Engineering degree course, which would qualify the applicant for membership of the Institute of Engineers of Australia, is the minimum qualification requirement.
• Basic understanding of the principles of engineering design, construction and maintenance techniques in relation to civil infrastructure.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and time management.
• Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
