The Position
The Student Services Officer provides high-level support to the Learning and Student Support Manager and ensures that the Student Services and administration functions operate smoothly and in a professional manner.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Duties include:
- Providing student pastoral care with regards to emotional well-being, homesickness, food, personal care, religious/community networking, & multicultural awareness.
- Providing information to students about their rights and obligations under the ESOS framework and the visa framework, including attendance, course progress, cancellations, student visas, complaints and appeals
- Counselling students with particular concerns, and referring them to other agencies, where necessary.
- Monitoring engagement of students and reporting any concerns to relevant staff.
- In collaboration with the administration team, assist with the enrolment of new on-campus students and facilitation of new student arrivals.
- Organising orientation each semester including scheduling and coordinating all staff and students.
- Facilitating guest speakers and networking events
- Provide support documentation upon request such as Work Rights confirmation.
- Assist with medical insurance queries.
- Support with job applications, CV’s and interview techniques.
- Liaise with the administration team in assisting with preparation of formal transcripts.
- Arrange updates to be sent to students on Employment opportunities/internships.
- Updating EIT’s student management and learning management systems as required.
- In collaboration with the Work Intergrated Learning Coordinator, oversee the administrative duties for internships and organise presentations and workshops for students on Internships.
- In collaboration with the Student Success Manager, conduct meetings with students who are deemed at risk and report back to the Student Success Manager on progress and issues/concerns.
- Provide support to the Learning and Student Support Manager and Learning Support Team.
- Work collaboratively with Student Services Coordinators on other campuses.
About You (Selection Criteria)
Required – need to have
- Previous experience working with International Students in Australia
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to providing a high level of quality customer service
- Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team
- Proficient in a range of computing skills including Microsoft Office suite, Learning Management Systems, online meeting/webinar software such as BigBlueButton, Collaborate Ultra, Zoom or Microsoft Teams
