Form of workMount Clear College is nestled into an idyllic bush setting on the edge of the Woowookarung Regional Park, 6 kilometres from the centre of Ballarat. Our College is a Year 7 to 12 co-educational College and we are renowned for, and proud of, our ability to maintain the friendly, caring approach of a small school, despite our student numbers being over 1000.
The essence of the College’s philosophy is to provide educational opportunities of the highest quality, where each student is challenged to reach their full potential. College resources include a highly experienced and dedicated staff who promote quality teaching and learning within a secure safe learning community. We are proud of being identified as an AVID (Achievement via Individual Determination) school. Adopting AVID’s WICOR learning and teaching and framework has allowed us to achieve and consolidate the great work already occurring in our classrooms in a more consistent manner across the College.
Mount Clear College is an exciting place to work and offers incredible opportunities and cultural diversity for both our students and our staff. Alongside traditional education programs, Mount Clear offers a vast array of academic and cultural programs including Australia’s first Confucius Classroom, established in 2009. Staff have opportunities for international experiences including teacher training programs in China, the annual Victorian Young Leaders to China program and our biennial school trip to Japan. Mount Clear College’s purpose built Language Centre has become the Hub of LOTE and cultural programs throughout the region for Japanese and Chinese providing immersion programs to Primary Schools across the region.
We also have one of only six Specialist STEM Centres in Victoria - our Earth Ed Centre. The Centre provides specialist day programs for students, professional development activities for teachers and is a hub for science education across the State and hosts primary and secondary students from across Victoria who attend specialised programs provided by our Earth Education Centre.
The College’s Performing Arts program is highly regarded both within Victoria and also internationally for our outstanding Musical Futures Program.
We are extremely proud of the considerable building works, upgrades and refurbishments undertaken at our College during recent years. Major highlights include our state-of-the-art Technology Centre, refurbished 300 seat Theatre, Visual Arts and Science Hubs, VCAL Learning Centre and a 5.5 million dollar refurbishment to our Junior School. Major improvements to our grounds and outdoor areas to enhance and embrace our natural picturesque surrounding environment are also being undertaken.
