Reporting to the Design Director at our main office in Sydney CBD, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and implementation of primary components for high-voltage systems and optimising substation layouts for efficiency.With a focus on collaboration and effective communication, the Substation Design Engineer will contribute innovative solutions to overcome challenges, driving continuous improvement within the Substation Design process.Specific Tasks Include

• Lead the design and implementation of primary components for high-voltage systems, ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability.
• Optimise high-voltage substation layouts, strategically placing components for enhanced efficiency and compliance with standards.
• Ensure designs align with international standards and regulations, adhering to industry best practices and safety requirements.
• Utilise specialised design software and tools tailored for high-voltage applications, employing advanced CAD and simulation tools for precise and accurate design modelling.
• Contribute innovative solutions to overcome unique challenges associated with high-voltage systems, leveraging a deep understanding of design principles.
• Convey technical requirements specific to high-voltage components to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless integration within the substation project.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong background in electrical engineering with a specialised focus on high-voltage systems, particularly those operating at 330kV and above.
• Proven experience in high-voltage electrical primary systems (as transformers, circuit breakers, and other switchgear components, is essential).
• Strong project management skills in high-voltage environments.
• In-depth knowledge of high-voltage regulations and safety codes.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in technical contexts.
