The opportunity:

In an exciting new phase for our business, multiple newly created roles are key to the establishment of Small APRA Fund (SAF) Administration services by SuperConcepts. 

As a Superannuation Accountant you’ll assume responsibilities that include but are not limited to: 

  • Producing accurate and timely reporting to clients,  regulators and the Trustee 
  • Preparation of financial statements, APRA returns, income tax returns and Members Statements 
  • Preparation of quarterly BAS returns
  • Ensuring all reporting is performed in accordance with accounting and auditing standards, legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Co-ordination and lodgement all ATO reporting and remittance of tax payments.
  • Ensuring transfer-in funds are assessed against Trustee guidelines and established correctly. 
  • Trustee liaison. 
  • Collaborating with external auditors and managing annual audits. 
  • Preparation of Member balances and all reporting for commencement of pensions
  • responsible for the integrity of the accounting information ensuring the general ledgers accurately reflect the value of the assets and liabilities of the various Funds administered
  • Reconciliation and oversight of general ledger balances, including coordination of reconciliation process.
  • Review of accounting journal entries posted to general ledger.
  • Provide support and assistance to discrete ad hoc tasks for projects, process improvements, and transitions as required

Willingness to attend the office in Adelaide’s CBD 3 days a week, with the option to WFH for 2 days per week is critical.

Your experience and background:

Having previously worked in a similar role you will have relevant Superannuation or Tax Accounting experience and hold degree qualifications in Accounting or Finance. CA or CPA qualifications will be highly regarded as will knowledge of SAF governance, frameworks and APRA requirements.

Here are the types of experience we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in providing SMSF solutions for clients
  • Being comfortable with adviser and client contact to build relationships
  • Minimum of 3 years of superannuation and accounting and taxation experience and experience in customer service. 
  • Financial Statement and/or APRA Reporting experience.
  • Year-end planning and audit liaison experience.
  • Proficient using the following software: SuperMate and Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills as you will be liaising directly with clients.
  • Ability to deliver accurate and timely work in accordance with deadlines;
  • Understanding of accounting principles;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills essential
  • Good commercial awareness
