UGL Fuels & Energy are seeking applicants from experienced Superintendents for upcoming Turnaround Events in Geelong Victoria. In this role you will be joining a well established Turnaround Team and local applicants are encouraged to apply. This role is casual and is due to commence in September 2024.
About the role
The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring turnaround work and campaigns are planned, scheduled, and executed – thereby effectively meeting UGL and client timeframes, maximising utilisation, and efficiency of related resources.

- Experience in schedule and cost forecasting, estimating, tracking and reporting
- Have the ability to work with minimal supervision both independently and as part of a team
- Understand contracts and contract interpretation
- Have strong communication - both written & oral presentation skills
- Encourage creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement
Required qualifications and education requirements
- Experience in a similar role where you have worked as part of an integrated Leadership team
- Supporting accountability, authority and decision-making associated with the delivery of turnaround services of multiple disciplines
- Work with the Client Turnaround team to plan and execute the turnaround program to maximise reliability, availability with due regard for safety, the environment, quality and cost
- Develop internal and external relationships to allow the contract to work effectively to deliver maintenance services
- Experience to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
- Accountable for the leadership and supervision of the maintenance workforce, including subcontractors, to ensure that the maintenance program is delivered on schedule, budget, achieving HSE & Quality targets
- A strong focus on and demonstrated experience in continuous improvement that delivers improvements / savings to the Client & UGL
- Trade Certificate or Engineering qualification in Mechanical/Fabrication
Desirable / preferred skills
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in working in a continuous process plant in Oil and Gas, Petro Chemical, Chemical, Power or equivalent.
- Ability to manage and coordinate diversified teams, labour teams, staff and manage equipment
- An eye for detail and accuracy with numbers is essential
- Demonstrated analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and organisation skills, with a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines, set priorities, and work under pressure
