Hope Family Cottage is a privately owned and operated Children's Contact Service providing community based Supervised Contact Services in Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast. I have a beautifully appointed Contact Centre of our very own in Wyong on the Central Coast, where families can enjoy quality time together, privately & safely. We provide Supervision for Children to have safe contact with their parent(s)/extended family members when they no longer live with them and concerns exist for their safety and/or well-being. Our pride ourselves upon our professional, high standards and deliver a superior service. We are committed to the ongoing growth & development of our team, and business as a whole.
Qualifications & experience
- A minimum of 2 years experience working as a professional Supervised Contact Worker is essential. Demonstrated ability to work with adult and child clients who display challenging and difficult attitudes and behaviours.
- Excellent Interpersonal & Communication Skills, both Verbal and Written. Non judgemental, kind and understanding of traumatic experiences, and the impact of trauma upon both adults and children.
- Certificate IV in Community Services would be advantageous, as would formal qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Teaching, Dispute Resolution or Family Studies.
- Must have a Full Drivers' Licence with excellent driving record, as well as access to a reliable vehicle and a willingness to drive out of their local area as and when required. Must have own ABN.
- Must be willing to obtain a Paid WWCC, First Aid Certificate, Children's First Aid Certificate & an up to date Police Check at their own cost.
- Must have a smart phone that is always accessible & a computer, and internet connection.
- An understanding of the Laws governing NSW Child Protection Services, Mandatory Reporting Requirements & Out of Home Care Services.
- Must be able to work independently with confidence.
- Flexibility to be available to work various days of the week, including weekdays, weekends and evenings.
- Candidates who are fluent in a second language are encouraged to apply.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Supervise family time & facilitate changeovers for children before and after visits, whilst providing safety for children;
- Provide support & encouragement to families to enjoy a positive experience and quality time together;
- Model positive parenting behaviours, skills as well as appropriate interactions & discussions between parents and children.
- Document supervised family visits into a formal report format & record detailed case notes;
- Facilitate effective referrals to other relevant & appropriate community services in the area for families if required;
- Maintain privacy & confidentiality of clients at all times, in line with company practices.
- Facilitate the positive promotion of, and professionally represent, Hope Family Cottage within the community;
